Why feed trace minerals with salt?
There are seven trace minerals essential in livestock feed: iron, copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, iodine, and selenium. Livestock have a natural appetite for salt, but not for trace minerals. This makes salt an ideal medium to deliver these vital minerals.
How much should I feed?
Each of the Champions Choice® products can be fed on a free choice basis to livestock, provided there is an adequate supply of water available at all times. The amount of salt and trace minerals required by livestock will be affected by many factors including the background level in the feed, age of animal, temperature, humidity, lactation, etc. So if you want to control the addition of salt to the animal's diet, you should consult a veterinarian or animal nutritionist.
Are there any chemicals in your salt?
Some of our products contain additives (primarily to keep it from getting hard or to iodize it) and others do not. Please refer to the product packaging or request a technical data sheet.
